Kingston Vale and Sheen sit on opposite gates of Richmond Park, and both are a short run from our kitchen at 16 Ashburnham Road, Richmond TW10 7NF. Kingston Vale (SW15) is about five miles away, roughly twenty-two minutes by road. Sheen (SW14) is about two and a half miles, roughly twelve minutes. Both are inside our ten-mile free-delivery radius, so there is no delivery charge on buffets, drop-off orders, wedding catering or office lunches in either area.
This guide covers what catering in these two areas actually involves — the venues we work in, access and parking, timings, the service styles that suit each kind of event, and what it costs. For area-specific menus, opening hours and local reviews, see our Kingston Vale catering page and our Sheen catering page.
Kingston Vale (SW15): golf club dinners, estate parties and park-edge events
Kingston Vale is quiet, residential and built around the Robin Hood Gate side of Richmond Park. The catering we do there splits into three kinds of booking. Golf club and members' dinners at Coombe Hill Golf Club, where the room and the timings are fixed and the food has to arrive to the minute. Private house and estate parties, often large gardens with a marquee and no kitchen worth using. And park-edge events near Robin Hood Gate, where everything has to be carried in and there is no power at all.
Dishes that travel well and hold their texture matter more here than anywhere else, because the drive is longer than our average job. Lamb Achari, Paneer Butter Masala and our Special Fried Rice are the three we are asked for most often in SW15, and all three sit comfortably on a buffet line for a couple of hours.
Practical points for Kingston Vale: parking on the residential roads is easier than in central Richmond but tighter than it looks on a Saturday, so tell us where to unload when you book. If your event is inside Richmond Park itself, vehicle access through Robin Hood Gate is subject to the park's own rules and closing times — we plan the delivery around the gate times rather than the event start time.
Sheen (SW14): community halls, school events and family garden parties
Sheen is closer and busier. Most of what we cater there runs through community and school venues — the Sheen Lane Centre, All Saints Church hall, Sheen Mount Primary events — plus a steady run of family garden parties in the streets off Sheen Common, and picnic-style catering for groups heading into Richmond Park through Sheen Gate.
Hall bookings in Sheen usually come with a fixed access window: an hour before, an hour after, and a caretaker who wants the room clear. That shapes the service more than the menu does. We arrive inside the window with everything we need, set up on trestle tables, and clear at the end without needing the hall's own kitchen equipment. Butter Chicken, Vegetable Biryani and a Mixed Kebab Platter are the SW14 regulars — mild enough for a mixed-age room, generous enough that nobody queues twice.
Upper Richmond Road West gets slow at school pick-up and again at rush hour, so for a Sheen evening event we generally deliver before 5pm and hold the food rather than run the risk of arriving late.
Choosing a service style
Drop-off and collection. The simplest option and the one we would suggest first for most house parties, staff lunches and hall bookings. We cook on the morning, deliver in labelled insulated containers with disposable serving trays and utensils, and leave you to serve at your own pace. No staff on site, nothing to return. Collection from our Richmond kitchen can be arranged in advance if you would rather pick the order up. Full detail on the drop-off catering page.
Self-service buffet with staff. The same food, but set out in heated chafing units, laid out in order, kept topped up and cleared afterwards. Worth it above about sixty guests, or when the buffet needs to stay open for two or three hours. See buffet catering.
Food stalls and plated service. Used mainly for weddings and larger corporate evenings. Ask when you enquire and we will tell you honestly whether the venue suits it.
Staff parties, corporate bookings and private family events
Catering delivery and event service run from 11am onwards by prior booking, which covers both a working lunch and an evening reception. For offices and businesses in and around SW14 and SW15 we can invoice the company directly, split an order across rooms or floors, provide allergen documentation for HR, and supply public liability paperwork on request for venue or procurement sign-off — see corporate catering and office lunch delivery.
Private family bookings — birthdays, engagements, naming ceremonies, anniversaries and gatherings after a funeral — are the bulk of our weekend work in both areas. We size the spread to the guest count rather than a fixed menu, keep milder dishes and plain rice on the line for children and older guests, and label spice levels clearly. Party catering has the menu combinations we are asked for most.
Dietary requirements
Meat and poultry are sourced from trusted suppliers providing halal-certified products. Jaflong itself is not independently HMC-certified, so if you need a particular certification standard please tell us before ordering. We cook a large vegetarian and vegan range and label allergens on every tray. Our kitchen handles gluten, dairy and nuts, so we can build a menu around naturally gluten-free or dairy-free dishes but cannot guarantee an allergen-free environment — tell us the requirement at quote stage and we will say plainly what we can and cannot do.
What it costs
Our packages are £25 per head on Bronze, £35 on Silver, £45 on Gold and £60 on Platinum, with the number of starters, mains and sides increasing at each tier. Delivery to Kingston Vale and Sheen is free. Bookings are held with a deposit and the balance is due before the event; tastings are chargeable and redeemable against a confirmed booking. Current package contents and minimum guest numbers are on the pricing page, and the pricing FAQ answers the questions we get asked most.
Nearby areas we cover on the same run
Both areas sit in the middle of our regular delivery routes, so we often cover several in a day: Richmond, Kingston upon Thames, Putney, Barnes, Mortlake, East Sheen, Wimbledon, Ham, Petersham, Kew, Twickenham and New Malden.
Booking
Tell us the date, the venue, the guest count and the service style and we will confirm availability and a costed quote the same day. Call 020 8332 1339, message 07436 026277 on WhatsApp, email jaflongcatering@gmail.com, or use the enquiry form or the booking page. Two to four weeks notice is comfortable for a party; weddings are better booked several months ahead.
