Food Safety & Dietary Standards
Clear allergen information, careful food handling and inclusive menu planning are part of every Jaflong event.
Clear allergen information, careful food handling and inclusive menu planning are part of every Jaflong event. We help hosts plan confidently for vegetarian, vegan, dietary and faith-based requirements while keeping food safety and transparency at the centre of the service.
Our standards
Food Hygiene Rating 5
The highest rating available, awarded by the Food Standards Agency and independently verifiable on the FSA register.
Allergen information
Ingredient information is held for every dish, and the 14 major allergens are labelled for event service.
Vegetarian & vegan choices
A substantial part of our menu is vegetarian or vegan, so mixed-diet guest lists are straightforward to plan for.
Inclusive menu planning
We plan menus around gluten-aware, dairy-free, faith-based and other dietary requirements before your event date.
We are a naturally nut-free kitchen
We do not cook with nuts. No peanuts, no tree nuts, no nut oils, pastes or flours are used in any dish on our menu.
It was a deliberate decision. We took nuts and every form of them off the menu so that families, schools and mixed-faith, mixed-diet events can all eat from the same table without anyone being left out.
What we cannot promise is zero traces. Ingredients such as spices, flours, rice and sweets arrive from suppliers and packing factories that also handle nuts, and that part is outside our control. So our food is nut-free by recipe, not certified nut-free by laboratory test.
If you or a guest has a nut allergy — or any allergy — please tell us when you place your order. If you book online or through the quote builder, call us on 020 8332 1339 to confirm it in person as well. We will always do our best to accommodate your dietary needs, but we cannot guarantee an allergen-free environment.
Being an inclusive place to eat matters to us, and this is part of how we do it — alongside halal-sourced meat, full vegan and vegetarian menus and written 14-allergen information for every event. We just need your help by telling us early.
020 8332 1339 — call us to confirm any allergy, especially if you ordered online.
Halal sourcing
Meat and poultry are sourced from trusted suppliers providing halal-certified products. Please contact us regarding specific certification or dietary requirements.
Event labelling and service
- We collect dietary requirements when your booking is confirmed and plan the menu around them.
- Dishes are labelled at the buffet or station so guests can identify what suits them.
- Vegetarian and vegan dishes are served with their own utensils.
- Our team can answer ingredient questions on the day, and we will always check with the kitchen rather than guess.
Dietary & food safety questions
What is your food hygiene rating?
We hold a Food Hygiene Rating of 5 — the highest available — from the Food Standards Agency for our kitchen at 16 Ashburnham Road, Richmond.
How do you handle allergens?
We keep ingredient information for every dish and label the 14 major allergens for event service. Tell us about any allergy or dietary requirement before you order so we can plan the menu around it.
Do you use nuts in your cooking?
We do not use nuts as an ingredient in our recipes. Some ingredients arrive from suppliers or factories that also handle nuts, so we cannot guarantee zero traces.
Can you cater for vegan and vegetarian guests?
Yes. Our catering menu includes a wide range of vegetarian and vegan dishes, and we can build an entirely meat-free menu for your event.
Do you offer gluten-free or dairy-free options?
Many of our dishes are naturally gluten-free or dairy-free, and our menu filters let you see them. Our wheat-flour breads (chapatti, tandoori roti, paratha, puri and naan) contain wheat; onion bhajis are made with gram (chickpea) flour.
Is your meat halal?
Meat and poultry are sourced from trusted suppliers providing halal-certified products. Jaflong itself is not independently HMC-certified. Please contact us before ordering if you require a particular certification standard or have dietary requirements.
