Catering for village fairs and school events
A staffed Indian food stall for village fairs, school and PTA days, festivals and community events across Richmond, Kingston, Surrey and Middlesex.
If you are looking for catering for a village fair, catering for a school event, a PTA summer fete or a community day, this page is for you. Jaflong Tandoori has been serving Indian food in Richmond upon Thames since 2008 and takes food-stall pitches at community events across the borough and into Kingston, Surrey and Middlesex.
Planning ahead? See the local fair, school and PTA event dates we are working to this year before you get in touch.
Organisers care about a short list of things: will the trader arrive on time, will the queue move, will the paperwork be in order, and will the food be good enough that people come back next year. Everything below answers those four questions. If it fits, send us a request at the bottom of the page and we will come back with availability and terms.
Events we take a pitch at
Village fairs and community days
Ham Fair and similar community events — a busy street-food stall serving all day, with mild options for children and clearly labelled dishes.
School and PTA fairs
Summer fairs, family evenings and fundraisers. Allergen information supplied in advance for your risk assessment, and pricing pitched so families actually buy.
Rotary, charity and fundraising events
We work with organising committees on format, portion sizes and price points so the catering supports the fundraising rather than competing with it.
Festivals and outdoor events
Ticketed and free festivals, riverside events and sports days. Volume service from a staffed stall with vegetarian, vegan and halal-sourced options.
Corporate and staff days
Family fun days, supplier events and away days, served either as a stall or as a managed buffet with tables and chafing units.
Venue and organiser partnerships
Recommended-caterer arrangements with venues and event companies, with agreed menus, lead times and a single point of contact.
What we bring to the pitch
- A staffed stall with our own trestle tables, covers, chafing units, fuel and serving utensils
- Food cooked at our own premises under a Food Standards Agency hygiene rating of 5, transported hot and temperature-checked on arrival
- Halal-sourced meat and poultry, plus full vegetarian and vegan options on every menu
- Allergen information for all fourteen regulated allergens, dish by dish, supplied before the event
- Mild options and smaller child portions at family events
- Our pitch left clean, with our own waste taken away
- One named contact from first enquiry to the day itself
What we do not do
We would rather be clear at booking stage than apologise on the day. We do not cook on site — no live tandoor, tawa or chef theatre — because everything is prepared in our own kitchen and brought hot. We do not offer plated fine dining or silver service, we do not run a bar, and we do not hire out crockery, cutlery or linen on their own. We cannot guarantee a nut-free environment, so we label rather than promise, and although our meat and poultry are halal-sourced from suppliers providing halal-certified products, we are not HMC certified.
Cross-promotion and branding
We are open to promotional partnerships with organisers, and it is genuinely two-way. What we can offer:
- Your event promoted on our website and social channels ahead of the day, which puts it in front of a local audience already interested in food and events
- A page or listing on this site covering your event, linked from our community pages — useful for your own search visibility as well as ours
- Menu or pricing tailored to your audience and ticket price, so the food supports footfall rather than deterring it
- Joint signage or a programme mention where the format allows
- Photography from the day shared back to you for your own marketing, subject to your permissions policy
See how this has worked before on our Ham Fair and Hollyfest pages, or browse the community partnerships hub.
How booking a stall works
1. Send the request
Use the form below with your event date, location, expected attendance and format. There is no obligation at this stage.
2. We check availability
We come back within one working day with whether the date is free, what we would serve and how the commercial side would work for your event type.
3. Paperwork and menu
We send hygiene evidence, allergen information and anything else your committee or local authority requires, and agree the menu and price points.
4. Logistics confirmed
Pitch size, access times, unloading arrangements and set-up window agreed in writing so nothing is improvised on the morning.
5. Event day
We arrive inside the agreed window, set up, serve, clear our pitch and take our waste with us.
Request Jaflong at your event
Tell us the date, where it is and roughly how many people you expect. Put the event name and format in the message box — fair, festival, school event, PTA fundraiser, rotary day or corporate family day — and mention it if you are interested in cross-promotion. We reply within one working day.
Request your written quote
Tell us your date, guest numbers and the tier you have in mind — we'll come back with exact per-head pricing, usually the same working day.
Organiser questions
What does Jaflong bring to an event as a food stall?
A staffed Indian food stall serving freshly prepared dishes, with vegetarian and vegan options alongside halal-sourced meat and poultry. We bring our own service equipment, trestle tables, covers, chafing units, fuel and utensils, and we clear our pitch at the end.
Do you cook on site at fairs and festivals?
No. All cooking happens at our own premises at 16 Ashburnham Road, Richmond TW10 7NF, under a Food Standards Agency hygiene rating of 5. Food is transported hot, temperature-checked on arrival and held at safe serving temperature. We do not run live tandoors, tawas or chef theatre on site.
What paperwork can you supply for our event?
Hygiene rating evidence, allergen information for every dish on the fourteen regulated allergens, and the standard documentation organisers and school business managers ask for at booking stage. Tell us what your committee or local authority needs and we will send it before the event.
What pitch size and services do you need?
A standard stall pitch with vehicle access for unloading. We do not need a power supply for cooking because we do not cook on site; we run on chafing units and fuel. Tell us your pitch dimensions and access times and we will confirm we can work with them.
Do you charge a pitch fee or take a commission?
It varies by event, and we would rather agree it plainly than pretend one model fits all. Community and school events, ticketed festivals and private corporate days all work differently. Tell us your format and we will put a straightforward arrangement in writing.
Are you open to cross-promotion?
Yes. We are happy to promote your event to our own audience — website, social channels and our mailing list — in exchange for stall branding, a programme mention or a link. It costs neither side anything and it helps ticket sales and footfall.
How far do you travel for events?
Free within ten miles of TW10 7NF and quoted between ten and twenty miles. We will tell you honestly if an event is too far for us to serve properly rather than take the pitch and disappoint you.
How much notice do you need?
For a fair, festival or school event, as early as you can. Summer Saturdays fill up months ahead. Smaller community events can sometimes be taken at a few weeks' notice — it is always worth a call.
