If you organise a fair, festival or school event, your food stalls can make or break the day. We trade as a long-standing stallholder at Ham Fair and as the returning Hollyfest food partner, so we see it from both sides of the pitch. Here is what we recommend checking when you book a food stall — and what we provide when you book us.
What to check before you book any stall
- Food hygiene rating. Ask for the FSA rating and check it on the Food Standards Agency website. Ours is 5 stars, inspected March 2025.
- Allergen process. The stall should label dishes clearly and agree allergen information with you before the event.
- Hot holding and equipment. Confirm how food is kept at a safe temperature — chafing dishes, gas or electric — and whether the stall needs power from you.
- Queue flow. At peak times a slow stall frustrates visitors. Ask how they batch-prepare and serve at volume.
- Setup and clear-down. Agree load-in times, vehicle access and how the pitch is left afterwards.
Pitch fees and money
Most community fairs charge a pitch fee, and food stalls should expect to pay it — it is how the event raises funds. Be wary of any trader asking for a free pitch in exchange for "exposure". Publish your fee clearly, as Ham Fair does for its hot-food pitches, and confirm what is included (space size, power, tables).

Frequently Asked Questions
How much notice do you need for a fair or festival?
The more the better for summer dates — popular Saturdays book up early. Get in touch as soon as your date is fixed and we will confirm availability.
Do you need power at the pitch?
We confirm power and equipment needs with each organiser when booking, so there are no surprises on the day.
Can you serve mixed dietary crowds at a public event?
Yes. Every event menu includes vegetarian and vegan dishes alongside halal-sourced meat, with mild and spicier choices and clear labelling.
