    Nut-Free Indian Catering

We cook without nuts — every dish, every event. Here is exactly what that means, and what it doesn't.

We are a naturally nut-free kitchen

We do not cook with nuts. No peanuts, no tree nuts, no nut oils, pastes or flours are used in any dish on our menu.

It was a deliberate decision. We took nuts and every form of them off the menu so that families, schools and mixed-faith, mixed-diet events can all eat from the same table without anyone being left out.

What we cannot promise is zero traces. Ingredients such as spices, flours, rice and sweets arrive from suppliers and packing factories that also handle nuts, and that part is outside our control. So our food is nut-free by recipe, not certified nut-free by laboratory test.

If you or a guest has a nut allergy — or any allergy — please tell us when you place your order. If you book online or through the quote builder, call us on 020 8332 1339 to confirm it in person as well. We will always do our best to accommodate your dietary needs, but we cannot guarantee an allergen-free environment.

Being an inclusive place to eat matters to us, and this is part of how we do it — alongside halal-sourced meat, full vegan and vegetarian menus and written 14-allergen information for every event. We just need your help by telling us early.

020 8332 1339 — call us to confirm any allergy, especially if you ordered online.

Why a Richmond Indian caterer took nuts off the menu

Indian cooking leans on nuts a lot — cashew paste in a korma, ground almonds in a pasanda, pistachio on a kulfi. That makes ordering stressful for anyone with a nut allergy, and it makes a shared buffet risky for schools, fairs and family parties where nobody can police every plate.

So we cook without them. Our chefs rebuilt the creamy dishes around coconut, dairy cream, onion and tomato, and we removed the few items that could not be made safely without nuts. One kitchen, one standard — nobody has to eat a smaller menu than the person sitting next to them.

Jaflong has been feeding Richmond upon Thames and Kingston since 2008, from Ham Fair and Hollyfest to weddings, school events and corporate lunches. Being one of the more inclusive kitchens around is something we are genuinely proud of — and telling you honestly where our control ends is part of that.

What we do on every order

No peanuts, tree nuts, nut oils, nut pastes or nut flours in any recipe
Kormas, masalas and pasandas thickened with coconut, cream, onion and tomato — never cashew or almond paste
Peshwari naan and nut-topped sweets removed from the menu entirely
Written 14-allergen information for every dish at every event
Allergy notes carried from your order through to the kitchen and the serving team
A phone call back to confirm anything you flagged when ordering online

    Nut allergy questions, answered

    Is Jaflong Catering nut-free?

Yes — we are a naturally nut-free kitchen. We do not cook with peanuts, tree nuts, nut oils, nut pastes or nut flours, and no dish on our catering menu contains them. We took nuts off the menu on purpose so that guests with nut allergies can eat the same food as everyone else.

Can you guarantee your food is 100% free from nut traces?

No, and we would rather be straight with you. Our recipes contain no nuts, but ingredients like spices, flours, rice and sweets come from suppliers and packing factories that also handle nuts, which is beyond our control. Our food is nut-free by recipe; it is not certified nut-free by laboratory testing.

I have a severe nut allergy — what should I do when ordering?

Tell us before you order. Add the allergy to the notes on your quote or enquiry, and if you booked online please also call us on 020 8332 1339 so we can confirm it with the kitchen and talk through your event. We will always do our best to accommodate your dietary needs, but we cannot guarantee an allergen-free environment.

Do you use nut oils, nut pastes or ground almonds in your curries?

No. Many Indian kitchens thicken kormas, pasandas and sweets with cashew or almond paste — we do not. Our creamy dishes use coconut, dairy cream, onion and tomato bases instead, so kormas, masalas and biryanis are all made without nuts.

What about Peshwari naan and nut-based desserts?

We have taken them off the menu. Peshwari naan, almond-thickened pasanda and nut-topped sweets are not offered, because keeping a single nut-free kitchen is safer for everyone than running nut dishes alongside allergy orders.
