    Catering for Richmond Park Events

Self-contained outdoor catering for events in and around London's largest Royal Park

Richmond Park is the largest of London's Royal Parks and sits directly on our doorstep — the Ham Gate is a five-minute drive from our kitchen. The park itself hosts charity runs, Royal Parks Half events, community fun days and film shoots, while the private gardens, pubs and community halls ringing the park host weddings, milestone birthdays and corporate away-days almost every weekend of the summer. Our outdoor catering is built to work without mains power, without a fixed kitchen, and without leaving a trace on the grass.

Estimated delivery time from TW10 7NF: 5–15 minutes depending on gate access

    Why Jaflong Works Well Here

    • Closest full-service Indian caterer to the Ham, Kingston and Richmond gates
    • Drop-off picnic catering with recyclable packaging for small gatherings
    • Food Hygiene Rating 5 and £10M public liability for outdoor and Royal Parks events
    • Long history catering community festivals around the park perimeter

How outdoor catering actually works near Richmond Park

Events physically inside Richmond Park require a Royal Parks film-and-events licence and typically a Traffic Management Plan for larger gatherings. We do not obtain the licence for you, but we work to it: once you have your permit conditions we quote against your allowed footprint, generator restrictions, waste-carry-out rules and vehicle access windows. Most of our Richmond Park bookings are actually at park-adjacent addresses — the private houses on Ham Common, the pubs at Kingston Gate, Pembroke Lodge's private garden bookings, and the community fields behind Petersham Meadows.

For a typical outdoor booking we arrive ninety minutes before service, set up a three-metre pitched-roof stall with signage, run two live-service woks and a tandoor-substitute finisher on LPG, and clear down within forty-five minutes of service ending. All waste — food waste, packaging, greywater from utensils — leaves site with us. On grass we lay boards under the stall legs to protect the turf, which is a Royal Parks condition and a courtesy to any private garden host.

Menus that suit outdoor service and unpredictable British weather

Outdoor menus at Jaflong lean on dishes that hold well, plate quickly and taste correct at slightly cooler service temperatures — because on a windy afternoon at Ham Cross, food loses heat faster than it does in a marquee. Our tried-and-tested outdoor menu is chicken tikka, lamb rogan josh, chana masala, pilau rice, keema naan bites and a fresh salad with mint yoghurt. For colder shoulder-season events we swap in a hearty lamb shank curry and warm butternut daal.

For picnic-style drop-off — birthdays in the park, small corporate away-days at Pembroke Lodge — we build individually boxed meals in sturdy kraft containers with the customer's name printed on the lid. Every box carries a full allergen sticker as standard. If rain moves in we can also relocate a stall booking to an indoor backup venue within our delivery radius on ninety minutes' notice, provided the host has agreed the fallback in advance.
