    Catering for Grey Court School

Trusted school event catering with our trained event team and full compliance documentation

Grey Court School on Ham Street is a five-minute drive from our kitchen and one of the community venues we cater most often. Its hall and outdoor field host the summer fair, the winter PTA fundraiser, Year 11 awards evenings and community-hire events almost every term. School catering has its own compliance requirements — DBS certification for on-site staff, written allergen documentation for every dish, and Food Hygiene Rating 5 as the baseline — and every Grey Court booking we run is set up to meet those requirements without the PTA having to chase paperwork.

Formats that actually work at a school fair

A summer fair at Grey Court typically pulls four to six hundred parents, children and community visitors across a three-hour afternoon window. That kind of footfall breaks a standard buffet-service model — queues get too long, food goes cold, and small children lose patience. The format that works here is a food-stall setup: a branded three-metre pitched-roof stall with hot dishes finished to order at the front, priced per portion, with card and cash both accepted. For PTA-facing bookings we can either sell direct to visitors on the day or bill the school a fixed per-head cost with the food free to attendees.

Our reliable school-fair menu is chicken tikka wraps, vegetable samosas, onion bhajis with mint yoghurt, and a rice-bowl option with a mild chicken curry for parents. Portions are sized for hand-held eating without cutlery, packaging is fully recyclable, and everything is served on trays that stack cleanly when the stall breaks down.

Awards evenings, staff dinners and community hires

The other regular Grey Court booking is the indoor evening event — Year 11 awards nights, staff end-of-year dinners, community-group hires of the main hall. These are usually sit-down or informal-buffet formats for eighty to a hundred and twenty guests. We handle them with a hot buffet on three service points along the back wall of the hall, plated dietary alternatives set out in advance, and a two-person clear-down team who leave the hall in the exact state it was handed to us in.

Every school booking includes: a Food Hygiene Rating 5 certificate, DBS check confirmations for on-site staff, a full allergen matrix, and £10M public liability cover — all sent in writing to the PTA or business manager before the event date. If the school's risk assessment needs anything additional, we can usually supply it on twenty-four hours' notice.
